1. Warm up the area first
A warm shower, heat pad or heated belt helps muscles relax before massage.
2. Use a tennis ball against the wall
Place a ball between your lower back and a wall, beside (never on) the spine, and roll slowly for a minute or two.
3. Knuckle circles
Sit upright, place your knuckles either side of your spine and make small circles with gentle pressure.
4. Let a massager do the work
A wearable heated massage belt reaches the lumbar area hands-free, so you don't have to twist. 15 minutes is plenty.
